As part of our ongoing support for worthy causes we were happy and proud to sponsor our friend, Layla Birch, as she signed up for the not un-daunting challenge of a ‘white collar’ boxing match. We work in the office refurbishment industry, so couldn’t resist the opportunity to sponsor someone up for a full physical refurbishment, all in aid of a good cause.

Layla signed up to raise money for Cancer Research aiming to raise £250. As if 8 weeks of hard training aren’t bad enough, to top that all off with a boxing match is an impressive for feat for anyone. Layla said “Earlier this year, I signed myself up for a charity boxing match in aid of Cancer Research as we all know some who has had cancer. I loved every moment of the 8 weeks training and then the event itself. Thank you to everyone, especially Orange Projects, for helping me to exceed my fundraising target. It’s gone to a fantastic cause and hopefully one day there will be an end to cancer.”

White Collar boxing is a great night out that has been running for some time now. Over the years as an event, UWCB (Ultra White Collar Boxing) has raised over £16.4m for Cancer Research UK. Layla’s target was £250, which she smashed raising almost double that, £495!

But an Ultimate White Collar Boxing evening helps more than Cancer Research; it’s a great way for the participants to get fit. Targeted training goals, motivated by the thought of not being ringside but actually in the ring will keep anyone on their toes. And being healthy and active is a great way to help prevent cancer, in fact over 3400 cases of cancer in the UK could be prevented each year if more of us were more active. It’s almost a full body and mind refurbishment!

Fight night, (Effingham Park Hotel on 23^rd March, 2019), was a great evening out for all of us at Orange Project’s office. Layla was magnificent in the ring – there were no knockouts, no broken noses or broken jaws, just good old clean, and well spirited amateur boxing. If you like the sound of being sponsored and raising money for Cancer Research, but feel boxing isn’t for you, Ultra Events also organise Ultra Comedy, Ultra Darts and Ultra Ballroom; and for the true, hard core adrenalin junkies, there is even an Ultra MMA, gulp!              At Orange Projects we are a provider of specialist, tailor made solutions for small offices, large offices and everything in-between from small office alterations to full office refurbishments, but feel that Ultra MMA may be too extreme a solution, even for us!
